Dim to Warm 1800K-2800K LED Tapelight Constant Voltage

The DTW-1828 is built on a flexible LED circuit board with 3M adhesive backing for direct-surface mounting. It is offered in two constructions: an open-face IP20 format for protected interior channels and surfaces, and a silicone-jacketed, round-tube IP67 format with sealed end caps for wet-location and direct-exposure installations. Minimum channel width varies by power tier and IP rating, from 8mm (0.315") up to 16mm (0.630"), and should be confirmed against the mounting channel or extrusion before ordering. Each reel runs up to 16 ft. 4 in. and is cut-to-length at pre-marked intervals specific to its power tier — 3.9" for the lower-output tier and 2.0" for the higher-output tier. The DTW-1828 is UL, cUL, CE, and RoHS approved and backed by a five-year warranty. 

The DTW-1828 operates on 24V DC constant voltage input, compatible with SAGE-recommended constant voltage LED drivers. Available across two power tiers, the tape draws either 3.0 or 6.1 watts per foot, delivering 290 or 579 lumens per foot respectively, both at a consistent efficacy of 95 lm/W. Color temperature shifts progressively from 2800K at full output down to 1800K at the lowest dim levels, replicating the warming curve of a dimmed incandescent source. CRI is 90+.

Understanding Dim to Warm technology: Unlike a standard white-tone LED tape, the DTW-1828 changes color temperature as it dims rather than holding a fixed CCT. At full output it reads as a warm white; as the dimmer is brought down, the color shifts progressively toward a deep amber, matching the familiar warming behavior of a dimmed halogen or incandescent lamp. This makes it well suited to spaces where dimming is part of the everyday design experience — dining areas, hospitality lighting, bedrooms, and other spaces where a warmer, cozier glow at low light levels is desirable.

Choosing between IP20 and IP67: The IP20 construction is designed for protected interior applications — cabinetry, coves, and channels where the tape is shielded from moisture and direct handling. The IP67 construction adds a sealed silicone jacket and end caps, making it suitable for wet locations, exterior architectural work, and any installation where washdown, humidity, or direct water exposure is a factor. Confirm the correct construction for the installation environment before ordering, as channel width requirements differ between the two.

Selecting a power tier: The 3.0W/ft tier suits subtler grazing and backlighting applications, while the 6.1W/ft tier delivers roughly double the lumens per foot for cove and signage work where higher output is needed. Both tiers share the same 95 lm/W efficacy, so the choice comes down to the light level required for the application rather than a trade-off in efficiency.

Driver and dimming compatibility: Because the Dim to Warm effect depends on accurate, smooth dimming, pairing the DTW-1828 with a driver built for consistent low-end performance matters. SAGE's recommended constant voltage drivers — the D-60W, D-96W, and D-300W — offer 5-in-1 dimming compatibility suited to this behavior; the D-60W-ND is non-dimming and will hold the tape at its full-output color temperature rather than allowing it to warm. When sizing a driver, total the wattage per foot across the full run and select a driver with adequate headroom above that load.

Ordering logic: Use the format DTW-[Type]-[Power]-[IP Rating]-[Length], for example DTW-1828-3-IP20-ST, which specifies the 1800K-2800K dim-to-warm range in the 3.0W/ft tier, IP20 construction, at standard 16 ft. 4 in. cut-in-field length. The "1828" type code denotes the specific dim-to-warm color range and would change if additional dim-to-warm ranges are introduced in the future.
