KAI's housing and numeral panel are constructed of steel, with numerals cut from 10mm acrylic for a clean, precise profile. The fixture surface-mounts to the wall, holding an overall footprint of 2.5"W x 20"H x 4"D that keeps the cylindrical accent light and numeral panel aligned as a single vertical composition.

Fixture finish and font finish are specified independently: the housing and accent light are available in a standard black finish or a custom finish specified by RAL number or sample, while the numerals are available in a standard silver finish or a matching custom option. An optional braille plate integrates at the base of the numeral panel, specified either to match the fixture finish or as its own custom configuration.

The KAI Unit Number Sconce operates on 120V and accommodates a single G9 lamp (not included), rated for up to 50 watts per socket. It is compatible with dimmable lamps and dimmable controls for full ambiance control, though the lamp and control must be specified and supplied separately. 

Understanding the lamp-based accent light: Unlike backlit unit number fixtures, KAI illuminates its numerals from a separate G9 accent light mounted above the panel. This design gives specifiers control over the lamp's color temperature, dimming behavior, and beam character, since the accent source is chosen independently rather than fixed as part of the fixture. It also means the numeral panel reads more like a lit architectural element than a conventional illuminated sign.

Dimming compatibility: KAI is compatible with dimmable lamps paired with a dimmable control, giving full flexibility over how brightly the numerals are washed with light. Confirm lamp and dimmer compatibility with your electrician prior to installation, as both components are specified and supplied separately from the fixture.

Choosing a braille plate configuration: KAI offers three braille plate options: no plate, an integrated plate matched to the fixture finish, or a custom configuration finished independently. Properties with a uniform finish palette typically match the braille plate to the fixture finish, while a custom configuration allows the plate to align with a distinct wall or hardware finish.

Finish selection: Because fixture finish and font finish are specified independently, KAI supports both high-contrast and tone-on-tone configurations. A black housing with silver numerals creates strong legibility and presence in low-light corridors, while matching custom finishes across the housing and numerals produce a quieter, more integrated look for premium or design-forward properties.

Ordering logic: Use the format KAI-[Source]-[Fixture Finish]-[Font Finish]-[Braille]. For example, KAI-G9-BK-SL-BP specifies the fixture with a G9 socket, a black housing, silver numerals, and a braille plate matched to the fixture finish. Custom source, fixture, and font finish configurations are specified at time of order and are subject to SAGE Brands approval, as customization may affect final specifications, dimensions, and lead time.
